What FairLoad does (in plain words)
FairLoad helps you do two things:
- Track Invisible Work (home tasks that usually go unnoticed): cooking, cleaning, childcare, planning, emotional support, etc.
- Track Monthly Budget: income + expenses, and also show “Homecare value” as an expense-equivalent so it’s visible.
This is for
visibility & fairness — not to “win arguments”. It helps couples/families see the real workload and plan better.
Getting started
1) What this section does
Sets your example currency and hourly rate so the app can show money value for your time.
(You can change this later in Profile after signup.)
2) How to use it (steps)
- On Home, choose your Country (or choose Other country).
- Check the Currency and Hourly rate fields.
- Click Get Started to create an account.
3) Examples + common mistakes
- Example: If hourly rate is 20 and you log 2 hours cooking, value = 40.
- Mistake: Leaving hourly rate as 0 (then value looks like 0).
Login / Signup
1) What this section does
Creates your account so your data is saved. If you sign up with Email/Password, you’ll be asked to verify your email before using the Dashboard.
2) How to use it (steps)
- Choose Login or Sign up.
- Enter your Email + Password.
- If signing up: enter your Name (required).
- If you used Email/Password: open your inbox and click the verification link, then come back and press I’ve verified — continue.
- If you used Google: you can usually go straight to Dashboard.
3) Examples + common mistakes
- Example: You sign up, verify email, then dashboard unlocks.
- Mistake: Verification email is in Spam/Promotions — check there.
- Mistake: Using a different Google account than the one you intended.
Invisible Work (Add entry)
1) What this section does
Lets you log tasks and time (hours). FairLoad converts hours into money value using your hourly rate.
2) How to use it (steps)
- Open Dashboard → Invisible Work.
- Fill Task description (what you did).
- Choose Repeat type:
- One-time: you did it once (use “When did you do it?”).
- Daily: repeats every day going forward.
- Daily (weekdays): repeats Mon–Fri only.
- Weekly: repeats once per week on the same weekday as the “first” time.
- If One-time: set When did you do it?. If repeating: that field is disabled (the app auto-counts).
- Enter Hours spent.
- Press Add entry.
3) Examples + common mistakes
- Example: “School pickup”, Repeat = weekdays, Hours = 0.5 → counted Mon–Fri going forward.
- Mistake: Choosing repeating when it was actually one-time (your totals become too high).
- Mistake: Entering minutes as decimals incorrectly (30 minutes is 0.5 hours, not 0.30).
Field meanings (simple)
• Task description = what you did
• Repeat type = how often it happens
• When did you do it? = date/time (only for one-time)
• Hours spent = time you spent (example: 1.25 = 1 hour 15 min)
• Auto-calculated value = hourly rate × hours
Entries list (View day)
1) What this section does
Shows your entries for a selected day — including auto-counted repeating routines for that day.
2) How to use it (steps)
- Pick a date in View day.
- Scroll the list to see tasks and value.
- Use Edit to correct details, or Delete to remove.
3) Examples + common mistakes
- Example: If you chose “Daily” for cooking, it will show every day automatically.
- Mistake: Expecting repeating items to show in the past before you created them (repeats start from when you added them).
Invisible Hours Report
1) What this section does
Gives you totals for daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly plus a simple “receipt” you can share.
2) How to use it (steps)
- Open Dashboard → Invisible Hours Report.
- Read totals: hours and estimated value.
- Use WhatsApp/Facebook/Copy to share the receipt.
3) Examples + common mistakes
- Example: “Weekly: 18.5 hrs” helps show the real load for the week.
- Mistake: Sharing without explaining purpose — it’s about appreciation and planning.
Monthly Budget
1) What this section does
Tracks monthly income and expenses. It also shows Homecare value from your logged work as an expense-equivalent
so the “hidden” work is visible in the same financial picture.
2) How to use it (steps)
- Open Dashboard → Monthly Budget.
- Choose View month and optional Compare with.
- Add items:
- Type = Income or Expense
- Repeat = One-time or Monthly
- Name = label (Rent, Salary, Grocery)
- Category = group (Housing, Food, Bills)
- Amount = value
- Date / Start month depends on repeat choice
- Use the Cash vs With Homecare toggle in the app to see:
- Net (Cash): income − expenses (excluding homecare)
- Net (With Homecare): income − (expenses + homecare value)
3) Examples + common mistakes
- Example: Rent monthly from 2026-02 will apply every month after that.
- Mistake: Putting income as an “expense” by accident (wrong type).
- Mistake: Confusing homecare value with cash you pay — it’s not cash, it’s the value of time.
Profile
1) What this section does
Stores your name, currency, and hourly rate used to calculate values.
2) How to use it (steps)
- Open Dashboard → Profile.
- Set Name, Currency (like USD/GBP), and Hourly rate.
- Press Save profile.
3) Examples + common mistakes
- Example: Changing hourly rate updates future value calculations.
- Mistake: Using a wrong currency code (use standard like USD, GBP, EUR).
Using FairLoad like a pro
- Keep repeats for true routines (daily/weekly tasks). Use one-time for rare tasks.
- Log small items too (planning, calls, mental load). Those usually get ignored.
- Use “Cash vs With Homecare” to separate money reality from time value.
- Review weekly together — treat it like a planning conversation, not blame.
